Modeling Collective Crowd Behaviors in Video
نویسنده
چکیده
Crowd behavior analysis is an interdisciplinary topic. Understanding the collective crowd behaviors is one of the fundamental problems both in social science and natural science. Research of crowd behavior analysis can lead to a lot of critical applications, such as intelligent video surveillance, crowd abnormal detection, and public facility optimization. In this thesis, we study the crowd behaviors in the real scene videos, propose computational frameworks and techniques to analyze these dynamic patterns of the crowd, and apply them for a lot of visual surveillance applications. Firstly we proposed Random Field Topic model for learning semantic regions of crowded scenes from highly fragmented trajectories. This model uses the Markov Random Field prior to capture the spatial and temporal dependency between tracklets and uses the source-sink prior to guide the learning of semantic regions. The learned semantic regions well capture the global structures of the scenes in long range with clear semantic interpretation. They are also able to separate different paths at fine scales with good accuracy. This work has been published in IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) 2011 [70]. To further explore the behavioral origin of semantic regions in crowded scenes, we proposed Mixture model of Dynamic Pedestrian-Agents to learn the collective dynamics from video sequences in crowded scenes. The collective dynamics of pedestrians are modeled as linear dynamic systems to capture long range moving patterns. Through modeling the beliefs of pedestrians and

A Generic Bi-Layer Data-Driven Crowd Behaviors Modeling Approach
Crowd modeling and simulation is an active research field that has drawn increasing attention from industry, academia and government recently. In this paper, we present a generic data-driven approach to generate crowd behaviors that can match the video data. The proposed approach is a bi-layer model to simulate crowd behaviors in pedestrian traffic in terms of exclusion statistics, parallel dyn...
متن کاملLearning Behavior Patterns from Video: A Data-driven Framework for Agent-based Crowd Modeling
This paper proposes a generic data-driven crowd modeling framework to generate crowd behaviors that can match the video data. The proposed framework uses a dual-layer mechanism to model the crowd behaviors. The bottom layer models the microscopic collision avoidance behaviors, while the top layer models the macroscopic crowd behaviors such as the goal selection patterns and the path navigation ...
متن کاملMeasurability of Crowd Collectiveness in Dynamic Scenes
Collective motions are common in crowd systems and have attracted a great deal of attention in a variety of multidisciplinary fields [2]. Collectiveness, which indicates the degree of individuals acting as a union in collective motion, is a fundamental and universal measurement for various crowd systems. Quantitatively measuring this universal property and comparing it across different crowd sy...

Study of Crowd dynamics has had significant overlaps with models of biological swarms. Understanding and directing human crowds have also been of long-standing interest. In this paper, we describe a few basic cognitive processes that account for life cycle of typical human crowds. Individuals change their behavior with stimulants that attract a crowd. A crowd remains in place and behaves as a c...

The formulation of mathematical models for crowd dynamics is one current challenge in many fields of applied sciences. It involves the modelisation of the complex behavior of a large number of individuals. In particular, the difficulty lays in describing emerging collective behaviors by means of a relatively small number of local interaction rules between individuals in a crowd. Clearly, the in...
